My Story
Negin Salehi is a PhD student in the Sustainable Polymers Research Lab (SPRL) at Toronto Metropolitan University. Her research aims to explore polymers in sustainable packaging, the role of AI and machine learning in polymer synthesis and characterization, and to analyze the advantages of sustainable packaging in improving food security. Negin has an extensive background in environmental sciences and community work and wishes to bridge the gap between environmental science and social science for the betterment of Canadian communities.
Negin has a Master’s degree in Environmental Applied Science and Management from Toronto Metropolitan University and a Bachelor’s in Physical and Mathematical Sciences from the University of Toronto. Her Master’s thesis focused on food insecurity amongst immigrant populations in the Thorncliffe neighbourhood, with a particular focus on summer food insecurity.

She brings a strong sense of creativity, communication, and community engagement to both her academic and professional work, combining scientific research with a passion for education and social impact.
